Meet the LBS Doctors
Dr. Adam Smith D.O. has been an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon for 13 years. In 2002 Dr. Adam Smith started performing
Laparoscopic Bariatric surgeries. After seeing the great success of his patients Dr. Smith choose the LAP-BAND® procedure
for himself and in 2004 Dr. Smith opened a private practice dedicated to the treatment of morbid obesity.
In 2005 Dr. Smith asked Dr. Ferrara to join him at Laparoscopy, Bariatrics and Surgery. When asked why he decided to
start performing weight loss surgery after joining Dr. Smith’s practice, Dr. Ferrara responded, "As a vascular surgeon
many of my patients are people who have lost their battle with obesity."
During his first year at LBS, Dr. Ferrara watched Dr. Smith celebrate success with his patients. He saw that weight loss
surgery was restoring health to patients that were potential vascular surgery candidates and understood he had an
opportunity to treat and beat obesity before the disease caused permanent damage.
It was at this point that Dr. Ferrara knew that he would join Dr. Smith in his fight against obesity and its devastating
consequences. Dr. Ferrara continues as a vascular surgeon; however, he hopes that with his new efforts as a weight loss
surgeon he can restore his patient’s health now rather than working to save their lives later.

Dr. Adam Smith
Dr. Smith feels he has a special relationship with his bariatric patients as he has walked in their shoes and
continues his daily struggle just as they do. He is committed to the total treatment of the bariatric patient
whether they require LAP-BAND® or Gastric Bypass surgery.
